Africell Sierra Leone, one of the leading telecommunications companies in the country, as part of its continuous effort in digital transformation, on Tuesday 29th June 2022, at its Wilberforce offices, signed a partnership agreement with BnB Money Transfer.

Madison Obeng Agyei, AfriMoney Director, stated that remittance is a very important aspect of the financial sector, with Africa receiving over 45Billion Dollar through remittances in 2021, adding that this figure will increase before 2023, and these monies are coming through different means, based on the convenience of the sender and the receiver.

He said the Introduction of Remittance, which is the Electronics money transfer system, has changed the narrative in Africa, recalling that years back, relatives used to send money through people, but this has changed, as Africa can now boast of having good and reliable companies who do such transactions. He continued that Africa is currently leading the way when it comes to remittances, and BnB has made significant contributions in this sector.

He furthered that the partnership with AfriMoney will give BnB customers access to their money through AfriMoney on a 24-hour basis, irrespective of the type of phones they are using.

He stated that customers can also use the BnB AfriMoney App to recharge EDSA, DSTV and do other Business Transaction comfortably and reliably, adding that the target is to bring Sierra Leone among the top 10 countries that are using remittance system, maintaining that the process for BnB and Africemoney is very much easy, simple and reliable and that this partnership will help the country to meet global standards of digitalization. Marketing Manager, BNB Cash App, Chichi Aregbesola, disclosed that the initiative of the Cash App came from the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Oumar Barry and his technical partner, who sat together and came up with this solution to make it easy for them to send money down here to Africa, adding that it wasn’t about money but the great idea to make life easier. She continued that they have millions of people who depend on their products for transferring their money.
